New Performance Explores Themes of Farewell and Loss

MEXA's Performance Highlights Lives of Members

WEB - Drawing inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci's iconic depiction of the Last Supper, the Brazilian collective MEXA has created a poignant banquet performance that explores the themes of farewell, loss, and the human experience. The performance, which was one of the highlights of last year's festival, delves into the lives of MEXA members through a unique dramaturgy of dishes and narration.

WEB - Founded in 2015 in response to outbreaks of gender-specific violence in shelters for homeless people in São Paulo, MEXA's work has consistently addressed issues of social justice and human rights. At this last supper, members come together to reflect on their own experiences and the challenges they have faced.

WEB - Through a powerful combination of personal stories, ritualistic gestures, and evocative imagery, MEXA's banquet performance invites audiences to confront the complexities of farewell and to celebrate the resilience of the human spirit.
