NC State's defensive line looking to re-fortify itself
Wolfpack's veteran leaders Jalen Thornton and Davin Vann lead a young, hungry group of defensive tackles aiming to bolster State’s run defense.

While the dismissals of Joshua Harris and Davin Vann Jr. created some uncertainty this offseason, State returns eight scholarship defensive tackles with starting experience.
Despite returning contributors, the Wolfpack’s run defense was one of the worst in the ACC last season, allowing 4.27 yards per carry and 20 touchdowns. State ranked 90th in the nation last fall in rushing yards allowed per game at 172.8.
Jalen Thornton and Vann are two of the most experienced players on the team with both starting 23 or more games in their careers. Thornton led State with six tackles for loss last season.
The Wolfpack’s defensive line has a chance to be a strength of the team this season with several talented and experienced players in the rotation.
